Take for instance, you just got admitted into the university to study the course you applied for. So you undoubtedly have a lot of decisions to make. One of the things you will put into consideration in your decision making is where you will school from. Do you prefer schooling from home or you would like to get yourself a rented apartment usually close to school? Would you be able to manage the effects of what you have chosen? You should be aware that what you choose can tremendously alter the course of the near future. I might not be able to make the choice for you but I will share some insights that will help you to make a better decision.

Students who live alone grow up faster and become more independent. They become more responsible in managing their time and resources because they won’t have a hand from their parents or relatives in most situations.

Students who stay away from home have the freedom to make choices. They have the freedom to choose when to wake up, when and what to eat, the freedom of attending any event or going to any place they want including when to get back to their housing areas. They even have the freedom to bring their friends to their houses without any restrictions.

Does living on campus sound like the right choice to you? Is your interest piqued? Don’t make a final decision until you listen to the advantages of living at home too.

Living at home will save you some money because expenses are cut short. Expenditures like rent, water, internet and electricity bills tend to build up pretty quickly. There might be unforeseen circumstances like a student getting medication and treatment when ill which was not budgeted. Schooling from home will mean there will be more money to spend on things that an individual enjoys and will eliminate the stress of paying unnecessary bills.

Student residential areas are always noisy and this could be distracting when trying to study or have some rest after a hectic day in school. Living with a roommate can be a bit inconvenient. There are times your roommate might want to read at night meanwhile you can’t sleep comfortably with the lights on and in cases like this, you both will need to have an understanding to live without having minor conflicts regularly. At home, you’ll have more privacy and less distractions. You will not have to share some space with someone else. You will have frequent access to the laundry and you will always have support from your family members.

With all that being said, there is no simple answer to which living situation is best. In fact, getting to weigh the advantages of each and making a decision based on your own preference, rather than necessity is definitely a privilege. By considering your choices carefully and thinking about each from multiple angles, you will be able to make the choice that best suites you.
